Ars Magica 2 Wiki
Ars Magica 2 is a magic themed mod created by developer Mithion. It appears to be a sequel to the original Ars Magica, since the old version is no longer updated. You can also find the Shoutwiki page for the original Ars Magica here, mostly incorporated into this new version.
This Wiki for Minecraft Mod Ars Magica 2 is provided by our team to assist in the use of the mod, as well as to provide you with some hints and tips.
The current version of Ars Magica 2 can be found at the download link on Curseforge.com. It is currently compatible with Minecraft version 1.7.10 and was released on February 6, 2015.
Using:
To begin
Take a normal book, place it in an item frame near the pale blue glowing water found in the afterlife. Left click right where it is to get your book back. Read a book. If you do not read the book properly, you will not know how to do the simplest things in this mod. Too many people are asking in advance how to make different spells work.
Simple solution:
- Create a creative world called “experiment”
- Use the spell generation option in the inscription to try out different spells.
The only thing that this doesn’t work is the “summon” spell and the “bind weapon” spell that you need to make changes and throw materials in like in a survival game.
The first big hint in the plate:
The brown box is only for your original spell shape(s) (like touch or zoom) and their modifiers (like range), the gray box is for the secondary orthographic shapes and their modifiers as well as their orthographic components (like dig) and their modifier (like prosperity).
Disclaimer:
Don’t worry about the other brown boxes, they’re basically useless. So don’t worry about them and definitely don’t come back and complain that your peach ingredient won’t go in the box.
Necessary tools
In addition to the basic materials needed for the preparation (see the sections below for details), you must create the following items;
- Books – As ingredients for complex summaries
- Item Frame – To help get complex summaries
- Arcane Compendium – Contains all the knowledge about Ars Magica
- Occulus – To unlock new spell elements
- Book And Quill – The ingredients for a spell recipe
- Notebook – To write down a spelling formula
- Crafting Altar Block – To craft the altar
- Lever – For crafting altar
- Runes, at least 1 drum and 1 color – To cast a spell
- Spell Parchment – To keep the created spell
- Crafting Altar – To craft a spell using a recipe
- You see, using magic isn’t that easy, but it’s worth it – guaranteed!
- Steps to your first spell
- Mystery synthesis
You will have to start with the Arcane Compendium. It contains all the knowledge about Ars Magica and gives you access to all other components.
To do this you will need:
- Craft a book and an item frame.
- Find a puddle that looks like white water, called liquid etherium.
- Place the item frame next to it with the book inside.
- A lot of particles will float from the liquid to the book.
- After a while, your book should have turned into a complex summary.
- Pick it up when popping it out of the frame.
- Right click to use it or just look up the info at the wiki.
Mystery
The second step is crafting and placing a tick to access your skill tree. Select one of the following:
- Attack
- Defense
- Utilities.
Tap the Talent tree after casting your first spell. Use the three blue skill points, which you get by creating the summary, to unlock at least one shape (square) and one element (octagon).
Without doing so, you won’t be able to get any further without getting the infinity sphere or via the /respec command. You can also choose a modifier (diamond). As a beginner, you can only select items in blue (basic), then green (advanced) and red (expert). Choose wisely!
Inscription Table
Spellmaking
- Now you have to write down your new knowledge on the board in the Book and quill.
- Select a shape and an element for your first spell and drag them down to the brown area.
- After doing so, give the spell a name and take out the Book and the Quill. Naming is optional, but recommended.
- Next, set up the Crafting Altar to cast your first spell!
Items
A kauan item is a bait item that the player can equip and store in their inventory. Unlike blocks, items cannot be placed in the environment and can only be dropped from the player’s inventory, where they are called entities.
Ars Magica 2 has a wide variety of items ranging from Mage Armor to Hobby Books. All of these items are in the Arcane Compendium inventory. However, some of the items available in the game are not in the book.
Note that ore blocks like Vinteum Ore and Sunstone Ore should be moved to Blocks, while items like Arcane Compound and VInteum Dust will remain on this page.

Block
Crafting the altar block
The Crafting Altar Block is an essential block placed on the roof of the Crafting Altar. Its purpose is to help the Crafting Altar link to the Main House with a Crystal Wrench. Once the Crafting Altar is linked to the Main House or Energy Battery, the Crafting Altar can be used to obtain the Essence needed to cast certain Spells.
Arcane Reconstructor
Arcane Reconstructor is a block that uses raw essence to repair tools, armor, and other items with durability.
Arcane deconstruction
Arcane Deconstructor uses Dark essence to break objects and enchantments into their original components. The original empty rune and the final spell parchment can never be recovered from the spell.
Cosmic Fence
The Astral Barrier is an etherium powered block that when given a redstone signal blocks all spells within its radius and all methods of teleporting into its radius including the Ender Pearl Endermen’s magic and teleportation abilities. The player can be exempt from the effects of the astral barrier if they have a cusp stone with the corresponding rune combination (the same runes as the celestial fence has).
Commentator
A Caster acts as a spellcaster. It uses the power of the nexus to cast spells instead of mana. It also requires redstone signal
Key socket
The Keystone Box is the top block used in the Keystone portal. It can be customized in the user interface with a combination so that one port can switch to multiple ports. A keystone is required for activation.
Battery power
Store’s Essence/Etherium for use in casting spells and powering certain blocks. By applying a redstone signal, the Mana Pin attempts to pull Etherium back to itself from the network.
Prophecy stone
The Oracle Stone, like the Star Barrier, works by using essence auras projected through spells to detect nearby objects. It can be controlled by focusing the etherium on a specific type of object, and the resonant frequency of the etherium can be decided through the use of rune combinations. If rune matching is not used, the resonance frequency fluctuates unpredictably and cannot be avoided. However, the Seer Stone is used for a more subtle approach; allows the subject to continue, but emits a small signal often triggering a much stronger defense.
Calfactor
Calefactor recipe
Instead of running on fuel, Calefactor runs on essence to melt items, which will sometimes generate extra vinteum dust as a bonus.
When Calefactor is provided by:
- Light
- Neutral
- Dark Etherium
Then Calefactor has a chance to double the number of ores. It always has a small chance to double the amount of food.
A calfactor built into the crafting table includes:
- 4 Stone
- 2 Lapis Lazuli
- 1 RedStone
- 1 Vinteum Dust.
Mystery
This is the basis of the Ars Magica mod. Occulus has four sections that you can invest skill points into as you level up by creating and casting spells. The four trees are Attack, Defense, Utility, and Talent. The first three sections are where different magic ingredients and shapes can be learned using blue, green, and red skill points. The Talent Tree provides a permanent benefit to your character when unlocked. The Relationships tab shows your affinity for each spell type, which is affected by the spells you cast.
Plants
Ars magica consists of 6 different plants, 5 of which are used in several spell-making processes. These include
- Aum
- Cerublossom
- Desert Nova
- Tarma Root
- Wakebloom
- Witchwood Trees
Bosses
An important part of this mod, Bosses when killed will drop Infinity Orbs. They have a slight chance of dropping Essence corresponding to their attribute and/or a special item depending on the boss. The bosses in this mod are very tough and are a formidable force for players. Some of these bosses can even take out the best equipped players. Also be aware that bosses will teleport to you if you are far enough away (~30-50 blocks) and if you hit them with a ranged attack. The use of powerful weapons and armor is highly recommended.
These bosses when summoned will display their health bar at the top of the screen like bosses in vanilla Minecraft. These bosses are summoned when performing special rituals described in the Arcane Compendium. In recent versions, some Guardians have actually been discovered in special dungeons similar to those of Castle Walker in the Chocolate Quest mod.
List of bosses:
Please note that bosses will only drop green and red orbs after the player reaches a certain magic level, see Arcane Compendium for more details.

Strengths and weaknesses
Each boss has different strengths and weaknesses based on their factors. It’s best not to use an elemental spell that resembles the boss’s element, as using it will heal the boss rather than harm it.
Featured:
- This mod also adds some new creatures to The Overworld and The Nether. Most of them are hostile and quite difficult to kill. Players can also summon powerful bosses into the world for a chance to drop their signature items.
- The mod has a Magic Levels system. Use to level up and gain more Skill Points to discover spells, Also with increased Energy to cast spells. Experience system based on when the player casts spells; they will gain experience every time they successfully cast a spell (e.g. use an attack spell to damage an entity).
- Experience gained can yield diminishing returns; each subsequent use gives less experience than the previous one. There is also the phenomenon of Exhaustion in the spell, shown as a red bar to the left of the HUI—Exhaustion is inversely proportional to the experience gained. This is to prevent players from increasing their magic level by repeatedly casting a spell. In addition, the use of magic will allow the player to gain depth in some
- Certain Relationships- This can be viewed in Occulus or by the appearance of small icons usually on the bottom right of the screen.
- The mod also adds an Armor status display, which shows an icon for each piece of armor, along with durability bars, on the left side of the screen.
