Discover new features of Rats Mod at MC Wiki. This is a mod that adds a mouse, obviously. Rats are small creatures that breed at night in the afterlife, like monsters. They are often afraid of players and will run away when they see them. They can become quite annoying as rats can dig through wooden walls, steal food and seeds from chests and destroy crops. In addition, rats can sneak through fences and move through doors.
Rats Mod Feature:
- To protect one’s living hood from rat attack and destruction, one can craft a mousetrap
- These and traditional defenses against rats, such as stone houses and ocelots can help protect against rodent infestation.
- Another important aspect of Rats is cheese. Cheese is made from milk, by pouring it into a cauldron.
In addition to being a good food source, cheese is also used to tame wild rats and for many rat-related recipes. This cheesemaking process is highly configurable, much like mouse behavior, and can be disabled and replaced with cheese from other mod processes. We can tame a wild rat first by cornering it, then tossing cheese on the ground near it. After 10-15 feedings, the rat is completely tamed by the player. An inventory of tamed rats can be accessed by interacting with them, and one can place rats on their heads and shoulders by sneaking on them. In the mouse inventory screen, the player can view information about his mouse (such as its gender or state) and command the mouse to perform other behaviors.
Current Rat commands include:
- Roam – Rats will move around similar to wild behaviour.
Stay here – The mouse will sit down and not move.
Follow Me – Rat will follow its owner like a wolf or wildcat.
Transport Items – Interacting with a mouse with a Cheese Stick (Cheese + Rod in the crafting table) will bind it to the mouse. Sneaking into an inventory (chest, furnace, other mod’s machine, etc.) will mark that inventory for the mouse to get items while clicking on the inventory will mark the inventory for the mouse to send items into. Once both mice already have a marked deposit inventory and receive the inventory, it will begin shipping items from one place to another.
Collect items – Rats will search the local area for grass blocks (to be ground into seeds) or mature crops to harvest. Use the Cheese Stick to set up a deposit that functions like an item delivery order.
Hunting – The rat will hunt small or hostile mobs. It should be known that by default, non-upgraded mice are quite weak and easily killed by monsters. For mob drops, use the Cheese Stick to set up a deposit that functions the same way as the item delivery command.
The mouse inventory screen also allows the player to access the mouse’s holdings, along with granting it a helmet or head scarf to equip and manage its upgrades.
There are countless upgrades that can be crafted for the mouse, ranging from simple health and speed boosts to massive power and armor boosts, along with new abilities, like cooking food and carrying whole items. Most of these upgrades can be crafted with cheese and diamonds.
Players can place mice in the cage by placing them on their shoulders first and then interacting with the cage. They can be freed from the cage by interacting with it again. Rats of the opposite sex in the same cage will breed daily and produce 1-5 pups. These pups are likely to have new color mutations not found in their parents.
Notes for players
Caution should be exercised around wild rats, as some have been reported to carry deadly diseases. These mice have fiery red eyes and bluish-gray fur. They are hostile and will make more severe noises when they meet the player.
There are other features included in the mouse that complement the main focus of the mod, the mice. These include special clothing like the Chef’s Toque, which is used in upgrade recipes, and vegetables that are secret crafting ingredients for Chef Rats. There’s also support for Tinker’s Construct, which allows players to craft weapons and tools from cheese.
