Metallurgical

A blast furnace is similar to a furnace, but can only smelt raw ore, ore blocks, and tools/armor made of iron, gold, or chain. The blast furnace serves the same role as the smoker, used primarily to cook food faster.

The smelter produces a lump of iron or gold from their respective materials. When an item and fuel are placed in a blast furnace, the block state turns light and the item is smelted twice as fast as in a conventional furnace. Fuel is also used at twice the rate of conventional furnaces, so the number of items smelted per fuel remains the same.

The product can then be collected using the output. Like a conventional furnace, the hopper can be used to load items into the blast furnace and can also retrieve items from the blast furnace.

Change career

If a village has a blast furnace that the villagers do not yet own, any nearby villagers who have not chosen a construction site block have the opportunity to change their profession to armorer.

Light source

Blast furnaces emit a light level of 13 when operating, similar to conventional furnaces.

Custom Name

By default, the blast furnace’s interface is labeled “Blast Furnace”, but this can be customized by setting the name in the anvil before placing or by changing the CustomName tag with the /data command.‌[Session only Java version]

Lock up

In the Java Version, blast furnaces can be “locked” by setting the Lock tag with the /data command. If the blast furnace’s Lock card is not empty, the blast furnace cannot be opened unless the player is holding an item with the same name as the Key card’s text. For example, to lock the blast furnace at (0,64,0) so that it cannot be opened unless the player is holding an item named “Blast Furnace Key”, use /data merge block 0 64 0 {Key: “Blast Furnace Key”}.
