Breaking
Wooden knots are easily broken with an ax, but will fall apart as an item if broken with any tool. A stone node must be mined with a pickaxe to drop as an item.

In Java you don’t need a pickaxe to mine a polished slate/blackstone node. But in Bedrock you need a pickaxe to mine the polished slate/blackstone node
A button is dismissed and dropped as an item if:
Its attached block is moved, removed or destroyed.

Natural generation
Stone Buttons are naturally created in Fortresses next to Iron Gates. โ[Only ever] Stone Buttons are also made in Desert Armor Houses mounted in
Granite.
Nodes in the forest create naturally on the walls of houses in desert villages.
Crafting
Buttons can be crafted from planks to make matching wooden buttons or stone to make stone buttons.
Usage
Redstone power
A button can be used as a single stable power source (it will automatically turn off as soon as it is activated).
Location
- Buttons can be placed using it on a surface.
- They can be attached to the side, bottom and top of any fully opaque block.
- If placed at the top or bottom of a block, the button can rotate in any direction.โ[Java Version Only]
- It can also be attached to the top of the fence in the Bedrock Edition.

Activated
The buttons are usually inactive but can be temporarily activated by the player. A button can be activated using it. A wooden button is activated by a shot arrow, in addition to a trident thrown when the box, touches the button.
Arrows fired from skeletons, the donor can activate the wooden button. Mobs cannot directly activate the button.
Behave
When enabled, the tree button will stay active for 15 redstone ticks (1.5 seconds, minus the delay) and the kick button will stay active for 10 redstone ticks (1 second, minus the delay). A wood button activated through a fired arrow or thrown trident stays lively till that arrow or trident seems or is picked up through the player.
While active, a button:
- Powers up any adjacent redstone dust to level 15, including below the button
- Power any adjacent redstone comparator or redstone repeater facing away from the node to power 15
- Strongly strengthens its attachment block to 15 . energy level
- Activate any adjacent mechanism components, either above or below, such as pistons, redstone lights, etc.
When a node changes state, it provides a redstone update for all redstone elements adjacent to itself (including above and below) and for all adjacent redstone elements. adjacent to its attachment block.
Fuel
Wooden nodes can be used as a fuel source in a furnace, melting 0.5 items per node.
