Discover a new guide for Better Nether Mod Wiki. This Mod improves on the Nether, adding more biomes, plants and materials to it. Its content is unique and fun to explore as well as useful. Many concepts remain in WIP, but here are some of the results. The mod is designed to be compatible with other nether mods (especially in world generation). Biomes:
Biomes are volumes, instead of the default smithy and Minecraft system, but they are not shown in debug.
The empty
- Just default Nether is common
Wart forest
- Dense wart forest with a few small bushes
- Ground made of Nether Moss and Soul Sand
Forest of the Underworld
- A very dense forest of some exotic plants
- The ground is covered with Underworld Grass, Egg Trees.
- Ground made of Nether Moss, Netherrack and Soul Sand
- Plants are: Eggplant, Hades Grass, Stalagmite, Lucis, Eye
Dutch grasslands
- Grassy places with some bushes
- Grass and shrubs cover the ground
- Ground made of Nether Moss, Netherrack and Soul Sand
- Plants are: Eggplant, Hades Grass, Smoker, Wart Bush, Black Bush, Ink Dust
Gravel desert
- Large semi-empty space of gravel fields with cacti
- Soil made of gravel
- Plants are: Nether Cactus, Agave, Barrel Cactus
Mushroom forest
- Covered by Mycelium Nether and Soul Sand
- Contains large mushrooms – Red and Brown
- Contains 3 different colored mushrooms as a source of dye
Plants:
Eggplant
- Small bush with ovoid glands.
- Poison
- Can be collected
- Grow on Netherrack / Nether Moss / Soul Sand
Eye
- The vine is high from the ceiling with a big or small eye at the end
- Source of slime
- Can be completely broken from the point of destruction
- Seeds can only be planted on the ceiling
- Plants on the Netherrack
Black Apple
- A large berry at the end of the stem of the Little Bush
- Berries can be collected and eaten or used for seeds (crafted into pumpkin seeds)
- Berry (“Black Apple”) heals you for 2 seconds (and ~5 hearts)
- Grow on Netherrack / Nether Moss / Soul Sand
Black bush
- Small decorative tree
- Can be collected
- Grow on Netherrack / Nether Moss / Soul Sand
Lucis
- Glow mushrooms grow on the wall
- Can only be planted on the wall
- Light source of stone
- Plants on the Netherrack
Nether Grass
- Decorative tree
- Can be collected with scissors
- Randomly select 3 samples
- Mojang’s new coral fan-based texture
- Can be grown with bone meal used on Netherrack
Hell moss
- Solid decorative block
- Works like netherrack
Nether Reeds
- Acts like reeds from the afterlife, but uses lava instead of water
- Source of nether reed, which can be used for paper and sugar, or as raw material for Reeds Block
- Growing on Netherrack / Nether Moss
Stagnation
- Plants are like columns of bic
- Height 5-24 blocks
- There are upper and lower roots
- Can only grow with the ceiling
- Stagnant wood resources (crafts and construction materials)
- Can climb like a ladder
- Growing on Netherrack / Nether Moss
- Seeds can be sown on the ceiling or on the floor
Ink dust
- Ink bag source
Magma flower
- A rare plant that can be found at low levels
- Magma ice cream source
- There are 4 stages of development
- Can only be planted on Magma Block
Mushroom:
Big mushroom
- There are 2 types – Red and Brown
- Can be grown from vanilla mushrooms, if they are grown on Mycelium Nether with Bonemeal
Orange mushroom
- There are 4 stages of development
- The mature form drops 1-3 seeds and 1-2 dyes (orange and magenta).
- Can only be grown on Nether Mycelium
Red mold
- Cover Mycelium Nether
- Can be collected and planted
- Around, it only has 1 neighbor
- Source of red dye
Gray mold
- Cover Mycelium Nether
- Can be collected and planted
- Around, it only has 1 neighbor
- Light gray dye source
Wart fungus
- Unable to grow
- Grows on columns that support nether fortresses
- Contains red mushroom mass as filler and red wart block as skin

- Speed of golden pickaxe
- Can break 512 blocks
- The power of iron pickaxe
Cincinnasite diamond pickaxe
- Speed of golden pickaxe
- Can break 1024 blocks

Materials:
- Quiet tree trunk
- Stalagnate Wood + Stairs, Slabs, etc.
- Reed Blocks + Stairs, Plates, etc.
- Cincinnasite (metal, something between gold and bismuth)
Generation:
Terrain “fix” pass:
- Fix messy terrain by smoothing it out before you start creating
- Only works on Netherrack, Gravel and Soul Sand
Configuration:
- Block subscriptions (deleting a factory or its part will remove it from world generation)
- Subscriptions
- Biome registration
- Biome size in horizontal and vertical space
- Additional on/off switch
- Damage to players and mobs from eggplant
- Plant density (global and per biome)
