RFTools Mod wiki

The basic idea of this mod is to provide various items and tools that make it easier for anyone to manage large RF networks and help build technology in general. This mod is not meant to be used exclusively. It is recommended to use it together with mods like Thermal Expansion, EnderIO, etc. In addition to tools that help with RF, this mod also contains several key systems for teleportation (a bit like Star Trek, not like regular portals) as well as a full size build system feature.

Mod type:

RFTools Feature:

  • RFTools User Guide: in-game crafting guide for this mod.
  • RF network monitoring: with this you can check the RF situation in a set of connected blocks and find out where all the energy is going.
  • RF monitoring: this block can monitor other blocks near it for RF status. It gives a visual representation of the amount of RF in the block and can also send redstone signals under certain conditions.
  • Crafter: this is an automatic crafting machine that can process up to 8 recipes at a time and also allows crafting recipes to use the results of previous recipes in the same machine.
  • Scanner: with this block, you can more easily find your content in the storage network.
  • Power relay: with this block you can regulate part of your electrical network in the event of a redstone signal (or not). This can be used (in conjunction with RF Monitor) to shut down the ore process (for example) in the event that your main power system does not have enough power.
  • Teleportation System: This is a system in which teleportation is possible.
  • Power generation: contains a powerful but quite complex power generation system,
  • It will be difficult to use for non-specialists.
  • The shield system that can selectively block players, mobs, items, animals, etc. is simple yet powerful.
  • Delight section of the developer. A tool for developers.
  • A modular display system to display various values such as energy level, liquid volume, time of day, size capacity, etc.
  • A powerful mob spawner.
  • Block Guard uses RF to protect blocks from harvest and explosion. Ideal for your Wither spawner for example or just to defend your base.
  • A very comprehensive and full-featured size building system.
  • Flexible and searchable modular storage system with remote access support.

Open Computers and ComputerCraft support:

  • Shield
  • Teleportation system
  • Size generator
  • Screen controller.

Items

Manual

If you want help in the game then the RFTools manual is the ideal book to have.

The book has a table of contents and you can click on the links to go to different pages. You can also use the keys (left/right/home/end) to navigate faster in the book.

Dimension Manual

Size Generator is a big topic so it has its own book

RF Network Monitor

With RF Network Monitor you can select a block (right click or shift-right) and it will try to find all the blocks that use or generate RF connected (directly or indirectly) to the block selected. It will also show you how much RF is in each block and the coordinates. You can use this to help debug RF-related network problems.

You can double-click a line in the list of blocks. Doing so will close the window and the block will light up for 5 seconds (configurable).

Developers Delight

This is an item that is mainly useful for mod developers. You can use it to check TileEntity and block information for any block. Both on client and server side.

Blocks

Machine Frame

The basic block required for all machines in this mod is the Machine Chassis

RF Monitor

An RF monitor is a block that you place in the world and can inspect a nearby block (currently 3x3x3 area around the screen) and give a visual indication of how much RF is left in that block. This block can also emit a redstone signal in case the RF in the monitored block is too low or too high. You can use this redstone signal with a Power Relay (see below) to control sections of your RF network

Liquid Monitor

Liquid Monitor is a block that you place in the world and can check the nearby block (currently 3x3x3 area around the screen) and give a visual indication of how much liquid is left in that block. This block can also emit a redstone signal in case the liquid in the monitored block is too low or too high.

Crafter

The Crafter can handle up to eight different recipes, is a powerful automatic crafting machine, in a single block. It can be used to craft multiple items independently of each other, or else it can be used for more complex multi-step crafting recipes. By default, it uses 100 RF per fabrication cycle (where it performs all fabrication operations in one step).

Storage scanner

An storage scanner is a block that can scan the surrounding area for inventory (chests, furnaces, other equipment, basically anything that can hold items) and display them in a list. book. You can then select a repository in that list and it will display the contents of that repository. Scanning the environment uses energy and can take a while if you choose a large radius. It also uses RF to perform this scanning.

Power relays

The power relay allows you to control the amount of RF emitted based on the redstone signal. In its GUI you can set the amount of RF/tick to give in case the redstone signal is off and also in case the redstone signal is on. Normally you would use 0 in case redstone signal is off and some other value in case redstone signal is on. You can use this feature in conjunction with RF Monitor to turn off part of your RF network in the event of low power. For example, to shut down the ore processing machine.

Item Filter

The Item Filter is a block that allows you to control exactly how items will be routed along the six faces of this block. Each face can be configured for input or output, and the block has nine inventory slots that can match these six faces.

First, each of the nine inventory locations can be configured to accept only a specific item. To do that, simply insert the block you want into the corresponding ghost slot.

Cosmetic Blocks

If you visit an RFTools dimension, you can find dimension fragments. From these blocks you can create a number of different cosmetic blocks
